The Philippine Institute for Development Study (PIDS) will hold a public webinar on July 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the PIDS Conference Hall and via Zoom featuring the study “Defining and Measuring Four Recently Evolved Development Concepts: Pro-Poor Growth, Pro-Poor Development, Inclusive Growth, and Inclusive Development” by Dr. Nanak Kakwani and Dr. Zakaria Siddiqui.
Their study presents an integrated approach that allows the simultaneous evaluation of growth and distribution. By connecting these two, the authors established and defined four development goals, namely, pro-poor growth, inclusive growth, pro-poor development, and inclusive development. The paper defined these goals while offering a practical methodology for implementing them using real-world data. To illustrate its application, the authors examined growth and development in India by analyzing state-level data over a span of two decades.
It will be presented by Dr. Kakwani, coauthor, appointed Distinguished Fellow of the Gulati Institute of Finance and Taxation in India, and former Chief Economist and Director of the UNDP International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth in Brazil.
