THE Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), through its Socioeconomic Research Portal for the Philippines (SERP-P), has expanded its reach to Dumaguete City, collaborating with St. Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD) and Negros Oriental State University (Norsu). This initiative strengthens PIDS' commitment to advancing access to socioeconomic research and fostering regional partnerships.
SERP-P, the country's pioneering online repository of policy research, features 9,508 publications from PIDS and over 65 partner institutions. It provides researchers, academics and policymakers with accessible socioeconomic resources. As of October 2024, the portal continues to grow in reach and membership.
At SPUD, PIDS Senior Research Specialist and SERP-P Coordinator Ezekiel Nicomedes oriented stakeholders, including SPUD's Director of Research and Publications, Roel Jumawan, on the platform's benefits.
Nicomedes highlighted SERP-P's history and its role in amplifying research visibility.
Jumawan emphasized its potential to enhance SPUD's research ecosystem by providing faculty access to high-quality resources.
The PIDS team also met with Norsu's Director of International Linkages Dr. Craig Refugio and other officials.
Nicomedes introduced the Philippine Journal of Development, encouraging its use in enriching academic outputs.
Refugio lauded the initiative, noting its potential to address disparities in research access for regional institutions.
