QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- The Muntinlupa City Government through its City Planning and Development Office's (CPDO) signified the city's dedication to progress and sustainable development by holding the 1st Research Colloquium in support of the 21st Development Policy Research Month (DPRM).
The event, graced by Senior Research Fellow from the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) Francis Mark Quimba highlighted the critical intersection of green sustainability and digital innovation.
In his thought-provoking presentation entitled, "Green and Digital: Managing the Twin Transition toward Sustainable Development," Quimba inspired a dialogue that was nothing short of enlightening.
He emphasized the paramount importance of harnessing the twin transition - the simultaneous shift towards a green and digital economy.
"We must prioritize sustainability and leverage the power of technology as we continue to navigate the challenges of the modern world," Quimba urged, echoing a sentiment that resonated with everyone present.
For his part, Muntinlupa City Mayor Rozzano Rufino Biazon special underscored the importance of preparing and city's unwavering commitment to evidence-based policymaking and forward-thinking planning. His words echoed deeply, reaffirming the city's dedication to progress and innovation.
“If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.” he said.
Also highlighted in the program was the sharing of unique research related to sustainable development by student-researchers.
The event that took place on September 27 at the Museo ng Muntinlupa, provided a platform for insightful discussions and knowledge sharing. Studies conducted within the city were prominently featured, underlining the city's role as a hub for cutting-edge research and progressive thinking.
Also present at the program were Majority Floor Leader Coun. Atty. Raul Corro, Coun. Jedi Presnedi, department heads, city government employees, students, and other guests.
The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) extended its sincere gratitude to the Muntinlupa CPDO for their invaluable support in setting up the event.
This year's DPRM theme, "Going Green and Digital for a More Sustainable, Inclusive, and Prosperous Future for All," highlights the twin transition--digital and green transformation--as a way forward for the Philippines to attain a more sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous future, build back better after the COVID-19 pandemic, and achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
