The Philippine Institute for Development Studies, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), will hold a dissemination seminar to feature ADB’s History Book titled Asia’s Journey to Prosperity: Policy, Market, and Technology over 50 Years. It will be held on March 5, 2020, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, at the PIDS Conference Hall. Highlights of the book will be presented by ADB’s Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department Senior Economic Advisor Juzhong Zhuang.

The book presents an overview of Asia’s growth and transformation in the past 50 years. It summarizes underlying factors that can explain this development performance, while highlighting the large variations across the region and time periods. It offers illustrative country cases and discusses key policy lessons that can be drawn from Asia’s experiences. In particular, the book focuses on the role of policy, markets, and technology in promoting structural transformation, human capital development, trade and investment, infrastructure, macroeconomic stability, poverty reduction, gender equality, environmental sustainability, development finance, and regional cooperation and integration.

The event is open to the public. Pre-registration is REQUIRED as there are only 30 slots available.
