With the recent proliferation of regional and bilateral free trade agreements (FTAs) not only involving East Asian countries but others around the world, the inevitable question raised is: Are the economic benefits of FTAs that much for countries to put them in the priority list of their trade agenda? The author of this Notes thinks not, and advises prudence to reign on the matter of FTAs.
