In 2021, amid the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippine Institute for Development Studies remained steadfast in its mandate of conducting policy research and providing policy advice to inform evidence-based planning and policymaking in the country. The Institute completed 55 research projects and released 80 publications in various formats. It also organized 31 virtual public fora and beefed up its use of digital platforms to stimulate informed public discourse on development issues. Its senior researchers likewise continued assisting legislators in crafting or deliberating proposed bills in both houses of Congress. PIDS also actively pursued strategic partnerships with various organizations to promote data sharing, joint research, and knowledge-exchange activities. It also sustained its productive engagement and linkages with key international networks.
