According to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the country’s gross international reserves (GIR) reached US$79.6 billion as of end-March 201. The country’s headline inflation rate further declined to 3.9 percent in March from 4.1 percent in February. According to the National Statistics Office, this was affected by the slower annual hikes posted in the indices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels; recreation and culture; and restaurant and miscellaneous goods and services.
