The Philippine Peso continues to weaken against the dollar with a monthly average rate of P56.213 in September. This shows an increase of around P1.20/dollar from September of last year.
For January to June 2004, the Balance of Payments yielded a surplus of $68 million, an improvement from its deficit of $609 million for the same period in 2003.

Labor force population in July 2004 increased by 2.8 percent to 35.8 million from 34.8 million reported in July 2003. Labor participation rate, likewise, increased by 0.1 percentage point, from 67.0 percent to 67.1 percent.
The unemployment rate was estimated at 11.7 percent in July this year, lower by 0.9 percentage point over 12.6 percent in July last year.
Underemployment rate decreased by 3.1 percentage points, from 20.7 percent in July last year to 17.6 percent in July this year.
