Two opposition lawmakers on Friday (July 13) questioned the accuracy behind latest survey released by Pulse Asia, which showed President Rodrigo Duterte with an 88-percent approval rating.
Akbayan Partylist Rep. Tom Villarin said the latest survey appears to be “perception boost” for Duterte.
“Not a reality check. While it will boost the egos in Malacañang, it won’t make people feel less poor,” he said.
Villarin said Duterte’s popularity, as reflected in the Pulse Asia survey conducted last month, will not erase the problems affecting the country.
“It will not erase the 5.2 percent inflation that’s hitting people’s pockets hard, the cutting down real wages, loss of jobs, and high interest rates driving investments down,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat said he will rather go for the earlier survey result released by the Social Weather Station (SWS), which showed Duterte’s net satisfaction rating falling to +45 from +56 in March.
Baguilat also questioned the accuracy of the methodology used by Pulse Asia for the survey.
“Even if they don’t net their ratings, there’s a significant difference, more than 10 percentage points sa result ng Pulse and SWS. I’m talking of the gross approval rating,” he said.
Baguilat scored Pulse Asia for allegedly sowing confusion in people’s minds.
“Makes you wonder why… yun yung news can’t get accurate picture tuloy kung tignan mo yung both surveys,” he said.
