The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) and the Congressional Planning and Budget Research Department (CPBRD) of the House of Representatives held a forum on "Toward an Effective Regulatory Management System for the Philippines" on December 9, 2015, at the House of Representatives in Quezon City.

For the Philippines to take advantage of increased trade and investment under the ASEAN integration, there is a need to address the factors that continue to bring down its competitiveness and that undermine efforts to achieve greater social inclusiveness. Regulatory burdens are one of those factors. They restrain competition, productivity, and innovation.

PIDS President Dr. Gilberto Llanto discussed the importance of regulatory coherence and quality in realizing rapid, sustainable, and inclusive growth.
