A PIDS study found that the Philippine tourism industry needs to address several areas for improvement to be ready to cater to the potential influx of tourists post-pandemic.

Aside from having a sound plan and strategy, the hospitality competencies of human resources across the tourism value chain must be developed. The tourism workforce includes not only tourism professionals but also those at the grassroots, such as drivers, service crews, and tour guides. Also, both hard (physical) and soft (human capital and institutions) infrastructure must be enhanced to better facilitate mobility and connectivity among tourists and service providers.
