A PIDS policy note pointed out that public distrust in data collection, storage, and use hinders the adoption of smart city initiatives among local government units (LGUs). It urges LGUs to uphold transparency and accountability in their smart city initiatives. Policies and standards from the national government in developing data repositories are also crucial to ensure that public data are securely stored and managed.
