Hello, PIDS friends! Here's our #PIDSFactFriday for the week on literacy.
A PIDS policy note underscored the connection between literacy and socioeconomic status. Based on 2019 data from the Philippine Statistics Authority, children aged 10-17 without access to safe water and proper sanitation have lower functional literacy rates than those with access. Greater multisectoral cooperation to end poverty and improve children’s nutrition is crucial to increase literacy rates.
