Hello, PIDS friends! Here's our #PIDSFactFriday for the week on education financing in the country.
A PIDS study that looked into education financing revealed that education spending in the Philippines per person has grown robustly over the past 25 years, even surpassing the growth in per capita income. Despite this feat, the country’s education spending levels trail behind its regional and aspirational peers, which contributes to its poor performance in international standardized student assessments. The study thus urged the government to identify and scale cost-effective education interventions that better translate resource inputs to desired education outcomes.
