State think tank Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) welcomed Ms. Harue Shimato, senior economist at the Mitsui Global Strategic Studies Institute, based in Tokyo, on February 26, 2015. Accompanied by Mr. Kohtaro Kuronaga, Ms. Shimato discussed with PIDS President Gilberto Llanto the interest of Mitsui and Co. (Asia Pacific) Pte. Ltd. to develop a close research and information partnership with the Institute. Both institutions share knowledge development interests in manufacturing, trade and industrial policies, impact of regional economic integration, and the region’s sensitive geopolitics.
Dr. Llanto was joined by PIDS Research Information Staff Director Sheila Siar and PIDS Senior Research Fellows Erlinda Medalla, Celia Reyes, and Roehlano Briones.
