The Philippine Institute for Development Studies welcomed young researchers from Kobe University and the Asia Pacific Institute of Research (APIR) in Japan last July 6, 2015.
Jose Tiu Sonco II from the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies and Mr. Mizan Bisri, both from Kobe University, and Dr. Mampe Hiyashi of APIR visited the Institute to consult PIDS experts on the Philippines’ experience in disaster resilience, impact mitigation and recovery.
PIDS President Gilberto Llanto was accompanied by Senior Fellows Danilo Israel and Marife Ballesteros.
The younger researchers posted questions about how the Philippines dealt with Yolanda, how the government and the citizens used resources available to them including digital technology and social networks.
