THE Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) will launch the 22nd Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) this September, focusing on the importance of evidence-based policy research for national development. Established by Malacañang Proclamation No. 247, DPRM is held annually to emphasize the role of rigorous research in shaping effective policies.

The 2024 DPRM theme, "Securing a future for all by growing a resilient middle class," aligns with the Philippines' AmBisyon Natin 2040 vision of a predominantly middle-class society. Throughout September, PIDS and its partners will host events discussing the middle class's role as the backbone of socioeconomic development and how they can remain resilient amid global challenges.

DPRM kicks off on September 5 with a forum and press conference at Novotel, Quezon City, aimed at engaging media partners to raise public awareness about policy research. The month culminates with the 10th Annual Public Policy Conference on September 19 at Makati Shangri-La Hotel. This event will focus on how the Philippines can navigate global trends and capitalize on opportunities to foster inclusive growth, with discussions on policies and governance needed to strengthen the middle class.

The celebration concludes with the 10th Mindanao Policy Research Forum on September 26, where experts will discuss middle-class growth from a regional perspective and offer recommendations for inclusive development in Mindanao.
