The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) was honored to welcome the Nepalese Chief Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister, Mr. Lee Mani Paudyal, and the Nepalese Joint Secretary (Budget) from the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Baikuntha Aryal, on December 11, 2014.
The Nepalese delegation, accompanied by Mr. Raju Tuladhar, senior country specialist for the Nepal Resident Mission of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), consulted PIDS on the public policy formation process. In collaboration with the ADB, Nepal’s leaders and policymakers are planning to establish an efficient socioeconomic think tank, much like PIDS.
The delegation was received by PIDS Research Information Staff Director Sheila Siar, Project Services Department Director Renee Ann Jolina Ajayi, and Senior Research Fellows Celia Reyes and Jose Ramon G. Albert.
Dr. Siar and Ms. Ajayi discussed the history of the Institute and its vital role in national policymaking. Drs. Reyes and Albert shared examples of the Institute’s track record in policy research and offered advice on how these can be replicated in particular situations in Nepal.
PIDS is ranked by the Global Go To Think Tank Report at 37th in the Top 50 social policy think thanks in the world.
