A PIDS study found that among science and technology (S&T) professionals in the country, those with mathematics and statistics backgrounds have the highest tendency to exit the labor force earlier. Conversely, those with computer science or information technology background stay in the labor force longer. Professionals in other S&T fields, such as life sciences, physical sciences, and engineering, follow the usual behavior, wherein they stay in the labor force until retirement age.
