The Philippine Institute for Development Studies, in coordination with the Philippine Commission on Women, will launch its very first book on gender and development on March 9, 2020, from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM, at Novotel in Cubao, Quezon City. This event is also the Institute’s way of supporting the celebration of the International Women’s Day this year.

The book, Outside Looking In: Gendered Perspectives in Work and Education, features various research studies of PIDS that look into the apparent lag in the education of boys, the gender differences in educational mobility, the important roles of housework in the economy, the effects of nonmarket work such as housework on labor market participation, and the gender pay gap in agriculture. Through this publication, we hope to widen the public's understanding about gender issues and encourage our legislators to come up with policies and plans based on the evidence and recommendations presented by the authors.

To know more about the event, please call Ms. Rowena Taliping at 877-4017 or Ms. Neille Gwen B. de la Cruz at 8-877-4019, or you may email them at rtaliping@mail.pids.gov.ph or NdelaCruz@mail.pids.gov.ph, respectively.
