The Philippine Institute for Development Studies, in partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will hold a  conference on “Agricultural Development for Food Security: Addressing Challenges to Technological Transformation, Sustainability, and Good Governance,” on November 6, 2024, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM at the  ADB Headquarters, Manila and via Zoom.

The conference topic is especially timely following recent shocks to the Philippine and global food markets. The Philippines is a large developing economy that has been severely impacted as the prices of rice and other commodities spiraled to new heights,  compounding existing problems on food security.

Distinguished experts will present essays on the theme, contributing to a Conference Proceedings volume of scholarly reflections. The whole-day conference will include an opening plenary, parallel sessions, and a closing plenary to synthesize the main findings.

Onsite and online participation is by invitation only. Interested participants can tune in to the PIDS Facebook page for the livestream of the opening and closing plenary sessions.
