THE government should scrap its hybrid rice program and remove subsidies for the project to avoid wasting public resources, a study said.
“There is no strong evidence that the available hybrids are commercially viable,” Cristina C. David, senior research fellow of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, said in a study titled, “Philippine Hybrid Rice Program: A case for redesign and scaling down.”
