The Philippine Institute for Development Studies is implementing the project “Health Systems Research Management in the DOH.” It aims to improve the capacity of the Department of Health (DOH) and the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PHIC), to formulate, implement, and monitor health policies supportive of the current Administration’s Aquino Health Agenda (AHA). One of the components of the DOH-PIDS project collaboration is to develop professionals that would operate the administrative components of the health sector through the Health Policy Fellowship Program. The fellowship program is intended primarily as a training program. Thus, the fellows are required to attend various trainings and workshops organized by the Institute and the Department of Health. The first of these trainings is the Policy, Planning, Research and Legislative Process Training to be held on January 8-11, 2013. The purpose of this short course is to provide an introduction on DOH Policy Planning and Development and on Research and Legislative Process (LGU Scorecard). At the end of this short-course, participants are expected to obtain a broad knowledge on the process of formulating policy and conducting research on health. The speakers for this training will come from the Health Policy Development and Planning Bureau (HPDPB) of the Department of Health.
